ELVIQ Ultra EQ-UF is an intelligent ultrafiltration system with automatic backwashing, designed for central filtration of municipal water in family homes, apartments, offices, smaller commercial establishments, and as a pre-treatment before reverse osmosis.

The system uses a PVDF ultrafiltration membrane, which acts as a physical barrier against turbidity, suspended particles, colloids, bacteria, and microbiological contamination. Water passes through a very fine membrane structure, while undesirable mechanical and microbiological particles remain trapped on the membrane.

Unlike reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration does not significantly change the mineral composition of water and does not reduce TDS. Naturally occurring minerals remain in the water.

Backwashing with clean water

One of the biggest advantages of the ELVIQ Ultra system is the way it cleans the membranes.

During backwashing, water filtered by the second membrane is used to clean one UF membrane. Therefore, the membrane is not backwashed with raw water, but with already treated water.

This solution helps:

• reduce membrane fouling,
• maintain a more stable flow,
• extend the lifespan of the membrane,
• reduce service requirements,
• improve the effectiveness of backwashing.

What the system filters

ELVIQ Ultra EQ-UF is particularly suitable for reducing the content of:

* Ultrafiltration is a physical membrane technology. For water of unknown quality or with increased microbiological risk, we recommend supplementing the system with UV disinfection.

What the system does not filter

ELVIQ Ultra EQ-UF is not a water softener, reverse osmosis system, or activated carbon filter. It does not remove dissolved substances and does not significantly change the mineral composition of the water.

• Na zníženie TDS, dusičnanov, arzénu alebo rozpustených solí je vhodná reverzná osmóza.

Maintenance

The system operates with automatic backwashing, which helps maintain the membrane in stable operation and reduces the risk of clogging.

The typical lifespan of a membrane under normal operating conditions is approximately 2–3 years. The actual lifespan depends on the quality of the feed water, the amount of processed water, operating conditions, and proper pre-treatment.

To protect the membrane, the installation of a PP pre-filter is recommended.

Important notice

The ELVIQ Ultra EQ-UF system is primarily designed for the treatment of municipal water.

It is not designed to remove water hardness, dissolved salts, nitrates, arsenic, chlorine, or significantly reduce TDS. For water of unknown quality or with increased microbiological risk, we recommend supplementing the system with appropriate disinfection, such as a UV lamp.

Pre-treatment before reverse osmosis

Ultrafiltration is very suitable as a pre-treatment before RO systems. It reduces the content of turbidity, colloids, fine particles, and microbiological contamination that can cause fouling of RO membranes.

Using before RO helps:

• protect RO membranes,
• reduce the risk of clogging,
• stabilize the quality of the incoming water,
• extend the lifespan of subsequent technology,
• reduce the frequency of service interventions.

HoReCa and smaller commercial applications

The system is also suitable for operations where a more stable quality of input water is required for other devices or technologies.
